Northern Indiana Federal Credit Union is owned by its members and is run by a board of directors elected democratically by its members. You can have confidence that your financial privacy is an important priority of this credit union. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use, and protect your personal financial information. We are committed to providing our members with the services that fit their needs, which sometimes requires that we share information about you so that we can complete your financial transactions and provide you with certain financial opportunities. In order to do so, we have entered into agreements with other companies that provide either services to the credit union or offer you financial products for you to consider.

Under our agreements we may disclose all of the information that we collect, as disclosed below, to companies that perform marketing or other services on behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have a joint marketing agreement. To protect our members' privacy, we will only work with a company that agrees to maintain stringent confidentiality protections and limits the use of the information that the credit union provides. We do not permit these companies to release to other third parties the information provided to them by us.

We collect and may disclose nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on membership or loan applications
  • Information about your transactions with others or us
  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency
  • Information obtained when verifying the information provided to us on your applications or other forms, such as from your current or past employers or from other financial institutions where you conduct business.

We may also disclose information we collect about you under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures would typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct credit union operations, follow your authorized instructions, or protect the security of our financial records.

If you terminate your relationship with Northern Indiana Federal Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except where permitted or required by law.

How we Protect your Information

We restrict any access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data. Our employees are trained in maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to protect your nonpublic personal and financial information.

Website and Email Protection

The credit union does not collect information about the visitors to the web site. The credit union also does not disclose, sell or otherwise provide any email address that you may use to contact us with to any other party. Its use will be strictly for direct communication form the credit union.
