Fraud Alert System

Dear Northern Indiana Federal Credit Union Members,

We are reaching out to inform you of a Debit Card security enhancement with our Fraud Alert System. Starting March 1, 2024 cardholders will receive real-time (near) fraud alerts with two-way communication via SMS text message and digital voice calls.

Members with a cell phone number on record with NIFEDCU have been automatically registered for SMS “debit card fraud alert” text messages, which will come from phone number 49447. We encourage you to save this number in your contacts to ensure that you are responding to a legitimate fraud alert. Of course, you will have the ability to “opt-out” of this option.

All other members will receive a digital voice “debit card fraud alert” via a phone call and/or voicemail. For security purposes, digital voice “debit card fraud alerts” will come from a different number every time. If you have any concerns upon the receipt of a “debit card fraud alert” call and/or voicemail, you can speak directly to a live agent from Fraud Detection at 888-918-7313. Again, please save this number in your contacts to ensure that you are reaching out to a legitimate “debit card fraud alert” agent.

Please note, members that do not respond to a SMS “debit card fraud alert” will automatically receive a digital voice phone call and/or voicemail.
